Octagon surfers Excel in the USA

Octagon managed surfers, Bede Durbidge and Owen Wright, last week excelled at the 6th World Tour event for 2010 at Lower Trestles in Southern California. At one of the world’s most high performance waves, Durbidge finished runner up to 9 Time World Champion, Kelly Slater, in a hardly fought final. Slater moved into the number 1 ranked position following the event, and is now one step closer to taking an unprecedented 10th World Title. Durbidge moves into 6th position on the World Tour and needs a couple more good results to stay in contention for the 2010 World Title. Wright finished 5th at Trestles and whilst he was hoping to make the final himself, the result moves him into 8th position on the World Tour rankings, and is the highest placed rookie. The high flying Wright, is the hot favourite to take out this year’s ‘Rookie of the Year’ award and is looking set for an all out assault on the World Title in 2011. The World Tour now heads to Hossegor in France, where the world’s top ranked surfers will all be chasing individual glory whilst trying to stop Kelly Slater’s run towards a record-breaking 10th Title.
